As the oil is circulated throughout the engine it passes thru areas where it is cooled. As long as we can cool the oil, in some manner, and reduce friction between metal surfaces we should expect our engine to run fine. High oil temperatures is one of the problems that any internal combustion engine faces. In short trips to the market, the engine obtains normal operating temperature. What happens when we shut the engine down.
We are not worried about friction because nothing is moving, but what about the oil temperature? It continues to rise with the heat of the engine. Heat begins to break down the oil and oxidation begins, as well as sludge deposits began to form inside the engine. One solution to the sludge problem is a high detergent motor oil.
Synthetic Oils, just like regular oils are blended with certain characteristics. Each oil has certain additives that specifically do something different. Here are some proven advantages to Synthetic Motor Oil.
- 1. Synthetic Oil provides excellent engine cleanliness through superior sludge and oxidation protection.
- 2. Synthetic Oil helps reduce engine wear a high temperatures.
- 3. Synthetic Oil provides outstanding high-temperature protection under severe driving conditions.
- 4. Synthetic Oil improves fuel efficiency.
- 5. Synthetic Oils are fully compatible with conventional oils.
- 6. Synthetic Oils extends engine life by reducing oil oxidation and by reducing internal wear.
- 7. Synthetic Oils extend drain time. Check with MFG
Synthetic Oils are slicker and have proven over many test that they will reduce friction in a internal combustion engine. If we can reduce the friction, then we can increase the performance of our engine. Think about it, if we reduce the friction between two pieces of metal, does it not stand to reason that the performance will increase? It will not take as much torque or horsepower to move the two pieces of metal if there is less friction. By reducing the amount of friction in an engine,(all moving parts), we can increase the overall performance of our engine.
How about the heat? We have agreed that Synthetic Oil reduces friction, we have agreed that friction causes heat, so it stands to reason that by reducing the friction we have also reduced the temperature of the oil. If we reduce the oil temperature then we will also reduce the oxidation process.
Synthetic Oils just like Conventional Oils are blended from Crude Oil. However the process is very much different. In Conventional Oils the molecules are of different shapes and sizes, thus the lubrication qualities range from good to not good. In Synthetic Oils the molecules used are made to fit a specific design through a variety of chemical processes. These molecules can be made to provide a specific lubrication performance and by adding different molecules enhances the performance of the Synthetic Motor Oil.
